Lettuces Growing vegetables The majority of vegetables are grown from seed as annuals. There is a whole heap of information given on the seed packet - so give it a good read. You can grow all manner of fresh produce in your garden. If salad crops take your fancy there are juicy lettuces that can be sown from early April onwards, or beans and peas to be sown in May. Or maybe you're interested in root crops such as radishes, carrots, spring onions and leeks? Whatever it is that makes your mouth water, don't be afraid to have a go.
