It was a fantastic night for EastEnders as the show scooped a hat-trick of awards at Birmingham's Black International Film Festival & Music, Video & Screen Awards.

Tiana Benjamen won the award for Best UK Actress for her role as feisty Chelsea Fox . She told us “I’m really grateful to get this recognition and thank you to all those who have voted, its much appreciated.” Tiana was up against some very tough competition that included Freema Agyeman from Doctor Who and spin-off series Torchwood , Rhea Bailey who has appeared in Waterloo Road and Lorraine Burroughs who played Sarah Yates in Spooks: Code 9.
Rudolph Walker picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award (Ebony Award) not only for his portrayal as fun-loving Patrick Trueman, but also for a career that has spanned four decades , including sitcoms Love Thy Neighbour , The Thin Blue Line and Mr Bean , movie roles in Ali G Indahouse and L et Him have It , as well as a stage production of Shakespeare’s Othello .
To round off an impressive night, EastEnders also won Best UK Drama with a Black or Ethnic Cast.
