With Send a Smile we want to help our charity partners at
Operation Smile provide cleft operations for children in India. We are going to do this by making medical gowns for children to wear when they are having their operations.
This means that Operation Smile can use the money that they would have spent on medical gowns to fund more operations, so that more children can have their clefts repaired.
helen and child A person has a cleft lip if there is a gap in their lip, and they have a cleft palate when there is a hole in the top or back of the mouth. This happens when the two sides of the top of the mouth do not join together properly. Somebody can suffer from a cleft lip, or a cleft palate, or both at the same time. A cleft lip or palate is something that people are born with and you cannot catch it or develop it later in life.
