These beautiful altocumulus lenticularis clouds made an impression on Peter Brand when they appeared over Tebar in the Murcia region of southern Spain. The picture was taken on the evening of 4th November.

Circumzenithal arcs are caused by light reflecting from ice crystals. Philip Harriss spotted this effect over Bramdean in Hampshire on 2nd November.

white house with bright red roof tiles and a pale-green fence along the right-hand wall towards the bottom left-hand corner of the picture, dark and light green trees to the right. Rainbow above arching to the left hand side of the picture, with a fainter version parallel to it and another faint rainbow running at a different angle to the other two rainbows in between. Dark-grey sky behind the rainbows.

The faint, non-parallel rainbow is likely to have been caused by light refracting from the clouds at a different angle to the double rainbow on either side. Jonathan Wheeler spotted this unusual effect over Findhorn, Moray on 5th November.

silhouette of grass tips in bottom left-hand corner. White fluffy, wispy clouds scattered across the picture above, with thick dark-blue and dark-grey clouds behind. Thin patch of white sky towards the left centre of the picture.

As the altostratus clouds, which brought rain to Preston in Lancashire, cleared away, the more delicate-looking cumulus clouds stood out in the evening sky. Catherine Ainscough took this picture as she went for a walk on 1st November.

evening view of green fields in the foreground, line of trees in the distance and white boiling clouds in the far distance on the horizon. Dark clouds immediately above with fluffy balls of cloud towards the centre of the picture. Streaks of pink clouds leading towards the top right-hand corner, deep-blue sky towards the top left-hand corner and pale pink sky towards the right edge of the picture.

It was a gentle end to the day at Itchenor Harbour in West Sussex, with only a few cumulus clouds in the sky. Photographed by Barrie Downie on 4th November.
