Rachel Adedeji
Eighteen-year-old Rachel Adedeji was voted off the X Factor on Sunday night after ending up in the final two for a third time. She lost out to Lloyd Daniels and was forced out by the public vote when the four judges couldn't decide who to save.
The student, who's from London, says she's isn't sure why the public didn't warm to her but that she's determined to carry on singing. Rachel also admits thinking Edward is "handsome" and says that Danyl Johnson's reaction on Saturday was not "fake".
_________________________________________________________
How are you feeling after being voted off the show?
Yeah I feel great you know. I'm still doing interviews and stuff. I don't really feel like it's over now. It hasn't really sunk in yet. I feel like this is just the beginning for me. It's been a great experience and I feel like I'm going to get great opportunities out of this.
When Simon decided to throw the vote into deadlock how did that feel?
I was scared because I felt that everyone gave great performances on Saturday night. I was really scared because a lot of the public love Lloyd and I was just like, 'Oh my god this could be it.' So I was shocked to be in the bottom two but it wasn't really a shock hearing I'm going home because Lloyd is great, a lot of people love him. I just thought, 'It's OK you know, I'll still sing.'
What are you going to do next?
I'm going to keep singing because I love doing it. I've had great fun performing on stage and I'm just still going to do it. Whatever opportunity comes my way I'm just going to take it and just keep singing. So hopefully start gigging around and stuff.
Some people have criticised Danyl and said his humbleness at the end of his song was quite fake. What do you think?
I'm not too sure. He worries a lot and he wants to do so well. Obviously it really did get to him when he was in the bottom two.
I just said to him it's OK, you just need to stay focused. I don't feel it was too fake, he was just being Danyl and just singing and that's what he wanted to do.
John and Edward Former X Factor contestant Rachel says she thinks Edward is "cute"
Why do you think the public didn't take to you?
I'm not sure because I felt that I tried so hard. Every time I sang I always sang like it was the last time.
I don't know what it is, maybe they just don't understand me. Maybe they just don't know me yet as a person. I was there to sing and I sang my heart out but I just don't know what it is.
Are you disappointed because a lot of the celebrity judges said they would have liked to have been as good as you when they were young, yet the public don't appreciate it?
It's not really disheartening. When I think about that it just makes me feel so good. When I think about people like Whitney telling me that it just makes me think 'Wow!' Well I'm not going to give up, I'm just going to keep striving to become like them.
What do you think about Jedwood staying in?
I seriously think they have as much right to be in the competition as everyone else because they want to be pop stars, they want to do it. A lot of people keep saying, 'How would it feel to lose out to John and Edward?' I would feel upset to lose out to anyone else because we all have the same right to be in the competition and I think they are great boys and I want them to go far.
Even though they can't sing?
Singing for me is just like breathing from the soul, I think everyone can sing. They're doing it every Saturday night, they're singing. Obviously people just prefer to hear different kinds of voices but I would like to listen to them all the time. I think they're seriously great people and they're so entertaining. I want them to go far.
So you quite fancy Edward then?
I think Edward's really cute. I don't really fancy him, fancy's such a strong word. I think he's really cute.
So you can tell them apart?
I can, yes. Edward's more cheerful and he smiles all the time, whereas John's more like, 'Come on we need to focus.' Yeah you can tell them apart, one's got a scar on his lip and the other one's got a scar on his nose.
You said Dannii Minogue was an amazing mentor. Is she going to keep supporting you?
I feel that she is. As well as a mentor she's a friend. And I feel that we'll be BFFLs forever. She is great and I do hope we stay in contact. I'm sure we will, she is so supportive. She'll be backing me 100% all the way I'm sure.
