A black bear was rescued after getting trapped in a fast flowing river in northern India.

The creature wandered from a forest into a nearby village but was chased away by villagers.

The bear then ran into the river where he got stuck.

A number of wildlife officials stepped in to save the bear and using big nets they waded into the river to his rescue.
