Five UK troops killed in Afghanistan

Five UK soldiers have been killed and eight other people injured in a single incident while serving in Afghanistan.

The soldiers were shot by a member of the Afghan police force in an area of the country called Helmand Provence.

The troops had been helping to train Afghan police officers when one of them turned on them and started shooting.

Speaking to other politicians in the Commons, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that a group called the Taliban claimed it was behind the shooting.
