Serena Williams wins Wimbledon

Serena Williams

Serena Williams beat her sister Venus in the women's final at Wimbledon.

The 27-year-old won 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 to regain the title she won in 2002 and 2003, and end five-time champion Venus's hopes of a third straight win.

It was the third time the sisters had met in a Wimbledon final, and the eighth time in ten years one of them had taken part in a Wimbledon final.

Serena has now won 11 Grand Slam titles and holds the Wimbledon, Australian and US Open crowns.
