Virtua Tennis 2009 Genre
Sports
Format reviewed
Xbox 360
Plot
The idea of the game is to become the world number one by defeating the likes of Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova.
You get to create a player and then compete in different tournaments to improve your ranking and win various championships. While playing you can also buy accessories from the shop and train with your coach to improve your game.
There are also a few fun games where you have to hit different targets, including pirate ships and Tetris-like blocks.
Fun
The game is quite fun but once you've learnt all the different types of shots it can get a bit boring. The fun games offer something a lot different but they can also get a little dull.
Playability
The controls are very easy and you should have no problem remembering and knowing when to use the different types of shots available.
Graphics
Murray serving
The graphics are very good. There are 23 professional players available on this game and all of them look like the real thing. Plus all the smaller details, such as the crowd and courts look great too.
Difficulty
The game isn't really that hard. You can change the difficulty settings if you are finding it too easy though.
Hit or miss?
Tough call, but a hit! The game doesn't really change that much so it can get boring quite quickly, although it's great fun if you're playing with friends. Especially online.

"Virtua Tennis 2009 is great because you have to try hard and defeat the best like Andy Murray, Nadal and Federer but it would be better if they put it on Nintendo Wii for a better experience."
Kieran, 9, Norfolk, England
"It's brilliant. It's fun, it's active and it burns off loads of calories. You feel like you're at Wimbledon when you're playing it!"
Grace, 11, London, England
"I think the graphics are immense. It's an amazing game, really realistic."
Aaron, 10, Sussex, England
"I prefer Virtua Tennis 3 because it has more things to do in it."
Hira, 12, Manchester, England
"Not good."
Ashley, 12, London, England
"This game has brilliant graphics. In career mode you make a player and try to get to top of the world and be the best player. On Xbox live you can play loads of championships. The main players in the game are Andy Murray, Nadal, and Roger Federer. There are also mini-games like hitting targets and hitting pirate ships and Tetris blocks. The rating for me is four. This game is quite easy."
Ashley, 12, Birmingham, England
"I think the the one from 2004 is very good quality so this is gonna be better! I've got it on PSP!"
Freddy, 9, London, England
"I think that it is amazing. It can get a bit easy though."
Anisah, 10, Edinburgh, Scotland
"I got the game when it came out. It's brilliant, but I prefer Virtua Tennis 3 because it was more exciting. However, I love the fact that you can actually design the character yourself whenever you want to, unlike Virtua Tennis 3."
