What is foot-and-mouth?


Cows in a field
It's a highly infectious disease which affects farm animals like cows, sheep, pigs and goats, or any animals with cloven hooves.

The last major outbreak of foot-and-mouth was in 2001.

There were more than 2,000 cases in Britain and nearly six million animals were destroyed.
