City bar owners declared bankrupt

Beer drinker generic The bars are to be operated as normal for the next few days

The owners of a string of bars in Belfast have been declared bankrupt.

Brothers Arthur and Tony Rooney established the Whitefort Inn Group 10 years ago.

The bars they ran included Caffreys, Cagneys Bar, the Celtic Bar and The Whitefort Inn.

In October, a receiver was appointed to run the chain of pubs. He said he hoped to secure their sale as a going concern.
