European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has welcomed the Czech Constitutional Court decision that has cleared the way for ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.

Speaking in Washington, Mr Barroso said the treaty was "extremely good news for Europe" and would provide a capacity for Europe to work globally and in a "more coherent way". READ MORE: EU reform treaty passes last test
