Learning an Instrument A practical guide for parents My sons reckon they are really cool because they can play an instrument. I know they have huge amounts of fun and a great social life. They're learning a universal language beyond words. Also you don't have to be academic to be musical, so children with differing abilities can play together. Ros Asquith, Parent Everyone is musical, everyone can sing, and every child can get an enormous amount of pleasure and benefit from learning an instrument. Go about it the right way and you will be giving your child an experience that will last them throughout their life. Anyone can take up music. There are few activities that are more accessible and more rewarding. Yet it's a mind-boggling combination of physical co-ordination, intellectual and expressive activity.
